Mercury Toxin Free Fish


Mercury is also a by-product of mining, fossil fuel use, and pesticide application. While fish and

shellfish are a primary source of exposure, our entire food chain has been tainted to some degree.

Nearly all fish and shellfish contain at least trace amounts of mercury, but as you can some are

much higher than others.


Swordfish: 0.995 ppm

Bigeye tuna 0.689 ppm

Albacore tuna 0.358 ppm

Yellowfin tuna 0.354 ppm

Skipjack tuna 0.144 ppm

Light tuna 0.126 ppm

Salmon: 0.022 ppm

Anchovies: 0.017 ppm

Sardines: 0.013 ppm

Oysters: 0.012 ppm

Scallops: 0.003 ppm

Shrimp: 0.001 ppm


If you have tested positive for mercury toxicity and have amalgam fillings, you should consider

having them removed. Contact the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicity IAOMT to

locate a biological dentist in your area.


AVOID: Any regular intake of fish with over .050 ppm of mercury


  • When making dinner decisions, always opt for the lowest-mercury fish and shellfish. If

you consume tuna choose SafeCatch Skipjack which, while still elevated, contains less than .100

ppm mercury.


Toxin Free Cleaning at Home


Conventional cleaning products are among the most toxic substances found in the home.

Your best options are:



Those who are budget conscious may find that the old-fashioned predecessors to commercial cleaning

supplies—lemon juice, baking soda, Borax®, and vinegar--work just as well. Dr. Bronner's makes a

good, all-around soap for general house cleaning and Murphy’s Oil Soap is a less-toxic choice for hardwood

floors.


Toxin Free Use for Home, Apparel, and More (IMPORTANT)


If you must use a chemical cleaning solution, always ventilate the area you’re working in. Turn on a

vent fan and open two windows on either side of the house to create air flow. Allow moving air to

move through your work area for at least an hour after you’ve finished cleaning--or until the smell

of the cleaning product is completely gone.


Dry-cleaned clothing. Dry chemicals are known to cause a number of neurodegenerative and

liver diseases including Parkinson’s. Most dry-cleaning businesses in the U.S. use

perchloroethylene (or perc) as their primary solvent, which outgasses cleaned clothing.


Chlorine bleach. Make an effort to limit your exposure to chlorine bleach as a general cleaning

and washing agent. Consider the use of a chlorine filter on your home drinking and bathing water if

your public water supply is chlorinated.


When it comes to doing laundry, opt for natural detergents, fabric softeners, and dryer sheets.

Wash new clothing at least twice and new bedding three times (to reduce your exposure to any

toxic fabric finishes) before use.


Pay particular attention to dry-cleaned and/or conventionally laundered clothing since they

both contain chemical residues that remain in constant and direct contact with the skin.

Don’t use conventional air fresheners and avoid synthetic fragrances. If a product is scented

with anything but an essential oil, it is probably disrupting your hormones.


Replace vinyl shower curtains with those made of fabric and choose from toxin-free alternatives

when it comes to using paint and installing floor and wall coverings in your home. Vinyl shower

curtains, which are made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC), can lose half their weight in chemical off-

gassing during their first six months of use.


Discontinue the use of any aluminum or non-stick Teflon™pots and pans. Aluminum has

been linked to the onset of Alzheimer’s disease; it can also harm the brain and bones.

Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) is a cancer-causing chemical used in the production of Teflon™.

Stainless steel, cast iron, glass, and ceramic coated cast iron are the best materials for cooking.


Use stainless steel utensils for eating. Don’t bake food of any kind on aluminum foil. Instead, use

unbleached parchment paper or bake directly on an aluminum and PFOA-free pan. Avoid drinking

out of aluminum cans and water bottles.


Be wary of any glass or ceramic drink or dinnerware made in China, or anything cheap. While considered ‘food

safe’ by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the glazes used on these products often contain

lead and/or cadmium. These toxins can leach into your food, especially when they are heated.

When looking for dinnerware that is free of lead and cadmium, consider unglazed, and high-fired

porcelain or stoneware.


Styrofoam plates, bowls, or cups should never be used. They contain BPA and/or BPS which

can leach into food and water, hot or cold.


Store food in glass, not plastic. Stock up on glass storage containers (recycled glass jars or

mason jars can work well for many things). Because plastic is unbreakable, there may be an

occasional time and place for it. But never eat food or drink liquids that have been heated in

plastic. Never store any kind of acidic food or beverage (such as pineapple or orange juice,

tomatoes, or items that contain vinegar) in a plastic container. If you must use plastic, look for

items imprinted with the HDPE #2 or #4 ‘chasing arrows’ symbol.


Choose Organic Cottons, Fabrics, and Materials for apparel.  And prewash newly bought clothes

that may have been cleaned with detergents.


Don’t forget to use non-toxic pest control methods in your garden and non-toxic flea

shampoos, collars, and other related pesticides on your pets.
