Should you spend money on superfood powders, green powders, multivitamins, red powders, and other nutritional supplements?
Yes and No.
In theory, we can get all the nutrients we need from our diet by eating a diet rich in different types of foods. But in reality, we all know it's very hard to do this. Not only does it take lots of time and effort, sometimes we just can't get enough nutrient variety in our diets in our grocery store or garden.
That's where nutritional supplements come in. They are designed to fill the nutrient gaps in our diet. But do they really do that? Sadly, 99.5% don't.
Many just provide 1 primary active nutrient, sometimes not even the right type of nutrient nor in the correct ratios. Others, don't use the right type of ingredeint that gets absorbed by the body. Some just use plain cheap-ass, fake, lab-created type of stuff that you shouldn't even be putting in your body.
When it comes to nutritional supplements, wholefood nutritional supplements are ideal as they retain the most nutrients and in a form that actually your body can use. But just because it's a "healthy wholefood" powder or pill, doesn't mean it will work. But how is this possible?
Many just aren't comprehensive or "dense" enough. And even when they are, it's still common for these to miss out on a few very important nutrients that are needed maximize all the benefits of the nutrient profiles inside.
The question you need to ask yourself is why you need the supplement? Are you going to rely it on as magic savoir in your diet for peak nutritional fortification? Be careful if so. You'll probably be throwing away your money when it comes to 99.5% of these nutritional supplements. But if you want to just get a bit more nutritional support in ADDITION to a healthy diet on days when you feel like you just couldn't eat enough of the thing you wanted, you'll be in a better place, for example, when buying any random organic greens powder off the internet.
If you were curious of a nutritional supplement actually worth your dollar, the following is the heart and soul of our DAILY DOSE™ multivitamin blend which optimized for cellular health, muscle maintenance and recovery. It's $40 more than current leading nutritional wholefood supplement, AG1. Sorry. But, instead of WAY overpaying mostly for spirulina that someone could buy cheap at a mid-range Eastern European grocery store, apple powder and a dash of some other stuff, ours is packed and balanced with what you need, physician-formulated, and approved with premium grade ingredients that actually relate back value to what you pay for.
1. Fat soluble nutrients for a complete foundation that almost everyone and every "complete" nutrition supplement is missing.
Namely, 5000iu of vitamin D3 in olive oil & full 2000mg of AlaskaPure omega 3.
2. Clinically-studied higher doses of most the active from of Vitamin K, Menaquin Gold MK7 (300ug per dose).

3. Unique new forms of tocopherols (GG Gold & Delta GG) from the annatto plant; these are newly discovered, powerful health-boosting endogenous nutrients.

* I am very excited about the use of GG-Gold as it declines as we age and is essential for protein synthesis and mitochondrial health to enhance normal energy levels and allow for more graceful aging. It's even been the main topic of one of Ben Greenfield's most recent podcasts.
4. Astaxanthin for cellular energy and mitochondrial production (trippled the dose to 12mg).
Learn what makes astaxanthin special here: https://www.lusingredients.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Astasport-5.pdf (also here and here).
Further learn in this podcast where, Dr. Sandra Kaufmann, Longevity Expert and author, discusses why astaxanthin is one of her 7 longevity supplements and how it improves exercise endurance and acts like edible sunscreen.
In all honesty, we hate to do product comparisons, but for the purposes of demonstrating value and effectiveness, and how low the bar actually is for an "elite" "nutritional supplement", it was needed. There's more we could have discussed as well, like the dangers of oxalates in greens powders, but this was enough for now.
