Will beet juice cause glucose spikes?
There are approx. 7 grams of carbohydrates for each 10 g serving of beet juice powder. A bit of that is fiber so for reference it is equivalent to ~1 tsp of honey. Not a lot, but it contains plenty of minerals and, especially in a smoothie, should not cause any glucose spikes.
How to mix amino acids? Are FundAminos flavored & why no tablets?
The best way to mix the amino acids powder is in a few ounces of water first or in a shaker bottle. Amino acids in a powder are more quickly absorbed than tablets, allow for flexible use (such as mixing with a carb blend for endurance racing), and are more convenient and comfortable for many users over tablets.
Over the years the flavor profile has steadily improved, and FundAminos is now one of the best tasting EAAs on the market—using only whole food flavor and no sugar, 100% from plants. Blind testing against 6 other brands showed FundAminos was chosen 95% of the time as the favorite. We use real organic berry and cherry powder and a precise sweetener mix to block both front and back end bitterness—something too costly for most brands.
While there is only a little stevia in the blend, a very small percentage of people are sensitive. I recommend 2 scoops in as little as 4 ounces of water. This helps in 2 ways: it doesn’t dilute the flavoring, and it allows for a quick swig so your body can quickly absorb the amino acids. It’s not meant to be sipped slowly—the goal is rapid uptake. If taste is still an issue, add lemon, pomegranate, or cherry juice.
Check out this recent review on FundAminos:
Hello Rick, I've been using the Fundaminos for over a week and feel it already has helped with endurance and maybe muscle tone. I have bumped my swim 25% to hit 3,000 yds at least once, with the limiting factor being time (I swim before work and have to leave at a certain time). I have also bumped the distance on the rowing machine by 25% to hit 4,000 meters and done this 2-3 times since taking the Fundaminos. So far I'm very pleased and will reorder when the time comes. Thanks for making a great clean, vegetarian product for sports enhancement!
What does the MLP Formulary stand for?
The MLP formulary introduction can be found here: MLP Program.
MLP stands for Mitochondrial Longevity & Performance, which is what the program is designed for supporting and improving. If you are interested in boosting athletic performance, longevity, reducing inflammation, and increasing energy, this is a great program uniquely designed by Dr. Cohen, M.D. The program is based on the Root Cause Protocol.
Do you have an on-the-bike hydration and fuel product?
It depends on the kind of racing.
For endurance races we recommend combining FundAminos with a clean carb blend.
For pre-workout and training boost, try the UnBeetABrew + PeakATP bundle, taken 30 minutes prior (benefits last for ~2 hours).
For hydration, you can also simply add pink salt and trace mineral drops from Dr. Cohen’s MLP store. As for a direct intra-workout product, it’s something we are working on.
What is inside the amino acids formula?
The formula is a proprietary ratio based on clinical studies. It has been around for over 17 years and is highly effective. It has ~99% utilization based on urine nitrogen studies compared to whey protein. The formula is ~50% BCAA (leucine, isoleucine, and valine) with less than 1% methionine and tryptophan. Feel free to consult the nutrition facts label for more info or contact me directly at rick (at) purecleanperformance.com and I’ll send you the COA.
