“I would like your comments on renal function with increased protein intake. Since I’ve upped my intake my BUN is now 30.”
Increased protein intake can impact renal function, particularly in individuals with pre-existing kidney issues. A rise in blood urea nitrogen (BUN) levels, like your reported 30 mg/dL, can indicate increased protein metabolism, as urea is a byproduct of protein breakdown.
For healthy individuals, a moderate increase in protein is generally well-tolerated, but if you have any underlying kidney conditions, this could pose a risk. Elevated BUN levels can also be influenced by factors like dehydration, high muscle mass, or certain medications.
It’s important to monitor overall kidney function—creatinine and estimated GFR—along with hydration status. If you’re concerned about your BUN levels or how your diet might be affecting your kidneys, consider personalized guidance and, if indicated, further testing.

“Why did you change the DAILY DOSE formula recently, Dr. Cohen? It also looks like I am getting less for more cost, is that correct?”
The reason for the update was primarily as written in the copy you’ll get with the order. I could no longer in good conscience provide and sell a blend that I no longer felt was the most recent, up-to-date knowledge. I am happy to chat more about the reasoning that is laid out in the information sheets.
As for costs, this product costs us 25% more to produce with ingredients than the previous version, and pricing has gone up significantly everywhere. This product would sell for $300 by any other company.
And lastly, I hope in time enough people will be interested in the product that we can pre-pack again. Our manufacturer raised the minimum amount 3x, which would have required us to make over two years of product—something we’re not able to do. The recommendation is to grab a vitamin box and sort, and use the packets when out of the house.
Dosing Protocol
Take as follows twice daily in the AM and PM with meals, six days weekly.
For Ease of Use: We recommend purchasing a vitamin organizer with the $20 credit provided with your first order. We’ve included 25 mini-packets to make individual dose packs for away-from-home use. Additional 2×3 inch bags are available on Amazon.
“Does the blood spot testosterone test tell me results within a short time frame? Do I need anything else? How accurate is it?”
We do not offer a blood testosterone test at this time. However, it can be an accurate test. We offer saliva testing on our website. Saliva markers align with free testosterone levels, which is key. If you are using a topical testosterone, it is best to measure both saliva and serum levels, as topical use can confound saliva-only interpretation.

“I order from Amazon. Your beet powder is great and I love it. It seems to increase in price every time I order it though. I ordered once from you but found I could get it cheaper on Amazon.”
Thank you for your feedback and for being a fan of our beet powder! We know pricing can be a concern, so we want to make sure you get the best value by ordering directly from our website.
Currently, we’re offering 40% off on orders on our website, which is significantly better than Amazon. You can often get 20–30% off single purchases—which can last 2–3 months—saving more than buying on Amazon. If you choose to subscribe, we’ll apply a 10% lifetime discount, and you’ll still have access to 20–30% off deals on subscriptions each month. We want you to have access to our high-quality products at the best price possible. You can start your subscription with our build-a-box subscription deals.
