Optimizing your mitochondrial health and longevity involves not just supplementation of Daily Dose, but ideally also a number of other critically important dietary and lifestyle STOPS and STARTS for the best results. Each of the STOPS disrupts the body’s ability to create the enzymatic forms of copper that are necessary for energy production. STOP: Taking these frequently recommended nutritional supplements: -Vitamin D3 supplements or ANY foods fortified with vitamin D -Calcium supplements or ANY foods fortified with calcium.-Omega 3 and fish oil supplements. Instead eat salmon, mackerel, sardines and/.or rainbrow trout. -Vitamin C supplements except those made 100% from acerola, amla, and camu camu. -Multi-vitamins (including prenatal) with synthetic B vitamins. -Multi-mineral blends and individual minerals especially zinc and colloidal silver.

STOP: Taking iron supplements and eliminating all iron fortified foods (commercial breads, cold cereals, etc.).
START: Reduce iron burden by donating blood every three months to maintain hemoglobin levels (for men between 14.0-15.0 mg/dl, for women between 13.0-14.0 mg/dl), RDW between 11.0 -12.0%, iron saturation between 20-25%.(Iron saturation is the serum iron divided by Total Iron Binding Capacity (TIBC))
STOP: Eating these highly toxic modern foods including:-Industrialized omega-6 oils (especially soybean, canola, corn sunflower and safflower oils).-High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) and artificial sweeteners. -Low-fat, high-carbohydrate, processed, and refined foods. -Glyphosate laden-foods including GMO-foods and non-organic wheat, oats, barley, corn, flax, rye and millet.
START: Follow an ancestral diet that is individualized to match the latitude where you live, the season, your current state of health, lifestyle and personal ancestry.
LIMIT: Environmental toxins especially plastics from any containers. Filter your water with a carbon (not reverse osmosis filter) and remineralize.
STOP: Using toxic personal care products including anything with fluoride (toothpaste) parabens, BHT, propylene glycol, and fragrances (except for pure essential oils).
STOP: Regularly consuming alcohol and recreational drugs. Limit pharmaceutical use to those that are necessary for controlling conditions that threaten your mental and/or physical health.

Daily Dose Ingredients
Below is the reasoning for each of the nutrients to be included in Daily Dose.
(1) FOUNDATIONAL INGREDIENTS Cod Liver Oil (CLO) is a valuable source of naturally-occurring vitamin A (as retinol not retinyl palmitate) which plays an essential role in activating bioavailable copper in order to manage iron in the body. While vitamin D3 and omega-3s in CLO are beneficial, it is the naturally occurring vitamin A that we really need. We can also get retinol from beef liver and other animal-sourced foods in the ancestral diet.
Copper Restore contains copper and synergistic nutrients to support replenishing of cellular copper and the important mitochondrial enzyme ceruloplasmin needed to produce energy, keep iron circulating (instead of being stuck in the tissues) and oxidative stress in proper check.
Wholefood Vitamin C (WFC) complex contains the enzyme tyrosinase which is important as it contains two copper atoms in its core and bioflavonoids (powerful phytochemicals that maximize the benefits of WFC by slowing its breakdown in the body). WFC as opposed to synthetic vitamin C (ascorbic acid, ascorbate) is fully bioavailable, meaning that it is readily absorbed into the bloodstream and utilized by the body’s cells. In addition, WFC works synergistically to play a key role in iron management. Important: Taking synthetic vitamin C instead of WFC will rob the body of these important benefits and actually encourage iron absorption, which is what we want to avoid.
Magnesium is a foundational mineral that is required for thousands of enzymatic reactions in the body. It is known to be essential for a healthy metabolism, cardiac health, deep sleep, balanced mood and much more. Most importantly though, it partners with copper to create cellular energy in the mitochondrial electron transport chain and mitigate iron uptake. Given all the body’s many requirements, magnesium is rapidly depleted–especially during times of stress–and must be replenished daily. The amount of magnesium any given person needs is dependent upon a number of different variables including their chronic, oxidative stress level and EMF exposure load. This is called the magnesium burn rate. The vast majority of people are unaware of this and to make matters worse simply do not consume enough absorbable magnesium to restore the needed magnesium required.
Activator X Plus contains activator X plus other critically important forms of fat-soluble nutrients. During his research, Weston Price discovered a fat-soluble vitamin he called Activator X (now known to be vitamin K2 MK4) which he believed was a key missing nutrient in our modern diet and that its absence could explain many of our modern diseases. He was able to heal caries, reduce oral bacteria and cure other degenerative maladies in his patients by giving butter oil, rich in activator X, along with cod liver oil.
Dr. Price wrote: “(a) [Activator X] plays an essential role in the maximum utilization of body-building minerals and tissue components; (b) its presence can be demonstrated readily in the butterfat of milk of mammals, the eggs of fishes and the organs and fats of animals; (c) it has been found in highest concentration in the milk of several species, varying with the nutrition of the animal; and (d) it is synthesized by the mammary glands and plays an important role in infant growth and also in reproduction.” Recently, another critical essential fat, C15, found in the same foods as activator X has been uncovered that is very low in commercial dairy and plays a critical role in mitochondrial health. (2) SUPPORTIVE/PROTECTIVE INGREDIENTS
Iodine is a trace mineral that supports thyroid function and is critical for metabolic health. When the body lacks bioavailable copper, the liver can become overloaded with unbound iron and the body cannot efficiently make the conversion from T4 (the inactive thyroid hormone) to T3 (the active form). In this case, iodine can serve as a surrogate because of its ability to mimic ceruloplasmin’s function. Food is the preferred source of iodine, since isolated iodine supplements can force a detoxification of halide chemical toxins (fluoride, chloride and bromide) which can worsen the problem as most people lack the mitochondrial energy to detoxify them. You can also focus on obtaining iodine from foods such as kelp, seaweed, scallops, cod, whole eggs, and cranberries. The specific amount is less important than making sure you consume SOME wholefood iodine every day.
Adaptogen Blend combines four stress-modulating extracts OciBest® Holy Basil extract, Sensoril® Ashwagandha extract, Cordyceps, BaCognize® Ultra Bacopa extract — each scientifically validated to help support a healthy response to stress. Astaxanthin is a very unique substance, as unlike other antioxidants, astaxanthin spans and stabilizes cellular and mitochondrial membranes (biological lipid bilayers) to function as an aqueous (water) and lipid phase (fat) antioxidant. As a result, astaxanthin demonstrates multiple positive and quantifiable effects including extension of life! Because of these properties, astaxanthin is widely and naturally found in marine organisms, including microalgae, crustaceans, salmon, and trout who have adapted to exploit the health benefits of astaxanthin. Astaxanthin is the substance that gives these marine animals their distinct color. As an example, microalgae use astaxanthin as a defense chemical that protects the DNA in cells from environmental stresses like high light, high temperature, high salinity, and nutrient starvation and salmon accumulate astaxanthin from their diet and store it in their muscle tissue to provide oxidative protection during their epic upriver swims to spawn!
Berry Boost Polyphenols: Polyphenols are a kind of chemical that occurs naturally in plants. Compared with many fruits and vegetables, blueberries and pomegranates contain some of the most potent compounds for inhibiting oxidative stress, impeding excess iron absorption from foods and encouraging healthy nitric oxide production.
